Allah Is the Best of Planners
Al-Anfal 8:30. Also known as Wallahu khayrul makireen, They plan and Allah plans, Allah is the best planner verse
Waith yamkuru bika allatheena kafaroo liyuthbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijooka wayamkuroona wayamkuru Allahu waAllahu khayru almakireena
When the disbelievers plotted against you, to imprison you, or kill you, or expel you. They planned, and Allah planned, but Allah is the Best of planners.
Verse 30 of Surah Al-Anfal, the 8th surah, ends with the words that Allah is the best of planners. It recalls a specific moment: the plot made in Mecca against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ shortly before he emigrated to Medina.
The same closing phrase appears in 3:54, in the story of Jesus (Isa). People often quote it on its own when their own plans fall apart, as a reminder that Allah's plan is wiser than theirs.
What it means
Remember when they plotted against you
The verse asks the Prophet ﷺ to remember when the disbelievers were scheming against him. It looks back from Medina to a danger that had already passed.
To confine, kill or expel him
It lists their three options: to imprison him, to kill him, or to drive him out. The Quran records how serious the threat was.
They planned, and Allah planned
The verse sets their plan beside Allah's. Theirs was hidden and harmful. His was quiet and complete, and it turned their plotting into the opening of the Hijrah.
The best of planners
The verse ends by saying that Allah is the best of those who plan. The Arabic word refers to subtle, hidden planning, and when used of Allah it means His plan always outmatches any scheme against the truth.
Where it sits in Surah Al-Anfal
Surah Al-Anfal is a Medinan surah revealed mostly around the Battle of Badr. Verse 26 reminds the believers that they were once few and oppressed in the land, fearing people would snatch them away, until Allah sheltered and supported them. Verse 29 promises that if they remain mindful of Allah, He will give them a criterion and forgive them. Verse 30 recalls the plot. Verse 31 describes those who heard the Quran and claimed they could produce something like it, and verses 32 to 34 record their challenge to bring down punishment if it were true, and explain that Allah would not punish them while the Prophet ﷺ was among them or while they sought forgiveness.
How it is used
The verse is not tied to a specific ritual. Muslims recall it when things do not go as hoped, as a reminder that the outcome lies with Allah. The details of the plot, which the books of sira describe as a meeting of Quraysh leaders, come mainly from the biography of the Prophet ﷺ by Ibn Ishaq and from reports in the commentaries. The escape that followed, when the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr hid in the cave, is mentioned in the Quran at 9:40.
